Douglas A.S. Paterson, Q.C.

Doug is our firm’s founding partner. A life-long resident of Brandon, Doug graduated from Brandon University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He earned his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1972, and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1973, after Articling with Manitoba Public Insurance. Doug was granted the Queen’s Counsel designation in 1977, the same year he entered private practice. Today, Doug practices in the areas of civil litigation, corporate and commercial law, real estate, wills and estates, administrative law, banking and insurance.

A constant advocate for Brandon, Doug was first elected City Councillor for Ward 1 in 1998, and continues in that capacity today. In addition to serving as City Councillor, Doug has also been a board member and volunteer for numerous community organizations.

Outside of Carriage House and City Hall Doug is an avid sportsman, who enjoys hiking, cycling, skiing, kayaking, and gardening. Doug’s greatest love however is sailing, and during the summer months he can be found sailing on Clear Lake and Lake of the Prairies, accompanied by his wife Sandi and their son Scot.
