Richard J. Wolson, Q.C.
Richard is Patersons criminal counsel, acting on behalf of clients accused of serious criminal offenses. Richard graduated from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law in 1972 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1973. In 1974 he joined the firm of Walsh, Micay and Company and became a partner in 1977. Richard was appoint Queen’s Counsel in 1995. That same year he became a founding member and partner of the firm of Gindin, Wolson, Simmonds, Roitenberg, where he presently practices. Richard is the past president of the Criminal Law Subsection of the Manitoba Bar Association; founding Member of the Inns of Court; Fellow of the International Society of Barristers; and Lecturing faculty member Federation of Law Societies National Criminal Law Program from 1985-2005. Richard is also the author of numerous articles in the area of Criminal Law and Wrongful Convictions, and has practiced before all levels of Court in Manitoba, and in all Western Provinces, Ontario, Nova Scotia and the Northwest Territories. In July of 2008 Richard was appointed Lead Commission Counsel for the Schreiber-Mulroney Commission in Ottawa. He previously served as Commission Counsel in the Sophonow Inquiry and as counsel to parties in the Monnin Inquiry and Driskell Inquiry. Richard is married and has two grown children. |
