Scott D. Abel
A native of Winnipeg, Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1993, and his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Manitoba in 1996. He articled in Winnipeg with Sinclair and Associates and was called to the Manitoba bar in 1997. Scott joined the firm Paterson Ross in December of 2002, having previously worked for Sims and Company in Birtle and Russell. Scott became a partner in Paterson Patterson Wyman and Abel in January of 2006. Scott resides in Virden with his wife Jennifer and children Olivia, Georgia and Finn. Besides being a husband, father, and lawyer, Scott donates his time to the Virden Community Arts Council as its current president, as well as being a voting member of the Manitoba Bar Association, as one of the representatives of the Western Manitoba area. Scott’s practice is primarily focused on litigation, both family and civil. He has appeared at all levels of court in Manitoba having litigated Provincial Court trials, Queen’s Bench trials, and appearing at the Court of Appeal. Scott has litigated custody, child support, spousal support and property matters, as well as personal injury and debtor-creditor matters. In his spare time, Scott enjoys painting, reading comic books and listening to Elvis Presley CDs, hoping that someday the King will make his triumphant return. |
